Reflection

Reflection Reflection      There are times that I question my decisions, but I know that GOD has a plan for me, and I thank HIM every day for my accomplishments. As I look at my third graders, I ask GOD to help me guide them to learn, grow, mature, and prepare them for their future education. Proverbs 4:13 tells us, “Take hold of instruction; do not let go. Guard her, for she is your life.”      I work hard at incorporating technology into just about every lesson. But as we all know, learning a new program can be time consuming and a daunting task. This course has given me so much confidence about learning new technology programs. As a teacher, I know that I can learn it and teach it to my students. They may even teach me a few things or two.      My current objective and future plans are to learn technology programs that will help my students understand and master new skills that are on their learning level. I will sign up for professional development courses when they become

Assistive Technology Technology is incorporated into my daily lessons. The technology tools I choose are designed for students of all learning levels. The two I use the most are PebbleGo and Khan Academy. Both programs have assistive technology embedded because they are designed to meet their ability level and they both have audio and visual capabilities. PebbleGo has books for every genre. There are books on animals, biographies, and even informational articles, just to name a few. Students have the choice of reading the book independently, read with a classmate, or listen to the audiobook while they follow along. PebbleGo offers books on reading levels for grades K-3.              Khan Academy offers support in math. I control what goes into each student’s portfolio. For example, my enrichment students might be working on third and fourth grade math skills, while my intervention students might need first and second grade math skills. Khan Academy offers videos for specific lesson

Technology Lesson

How to create a video in Video Editor Today I tried Video Editor and Voice Recorder in Microsoft. I chose this technology tool because I did not know much about it. I incorporated it into this week’s Social Studies lesson. It is extremely user friendly. I was able to figure out how to upload images and understand the purpose of each tab. I had the most difficulty trying to figure out how to upload audio to my video. After several attempts I was successful. I am so pleased with this tool and I highly recommend it. It is fun, engaging, and the students can be creative. Here is the finished video lesson. Different Types of Maps

Gaming the the Classroom

Gaming in the Classroom Gaming in the Classroom Gaming has become immensely popular in elementary schools. My students get excited when they have time to game which makes learning more engaging. Students want learning experiences that are academically stimulating while still retaining a certain level of entertainment value (Kadoun, 2015). Jeopardy, Khan Academy, Mega Math, and Clever are incorporated into my weekly lessons. Escape Rooms have been created for my gifted students. Gaming allows students to be creative, practice problem-solving, and build social skills. There are some classroom challenges when it comes to gaming. There has been a negative perception from teachers and administrators, lack of proper technology, costly, alignment to standards, and shorter class periods (Roblyer & Hughes, 2019). To keep searching safe, our parents and students must sign a technology contract. I also use Safe YouTube, so inappropriate ads do not show up on my SmartBoard. Gaming options
